It was a good day at Geelong yesterday for the RTD Colours with Mahrez making a winning debut at Geelong in a 1400m maiden. The 3YO gelding by Iffraaj was very impressive winning by half a length at his first racetrack outing.

From the barriers, jockey John Allen allowed him to settle in the second half of the field and angled him out at the corner, he made a nice run to finish over the top of the tiring leaders. The immature gelding has pulled up a little shiny after the run on the Good 3 surface yesterday. Trainer, Mick Price this morning had no hesitation in sending the horse to the paddock for a break immediately. He will be given his chance to come back in late summer early autumn and have a crack at the 3YO races which would include the Australian Guineas if he keeps progressing the right way.

The RTD team have had a very good run with the Iffraaj progeny and this guy was bought at the 2YO ready to run sales at NZB in 2020 by bloodstock agent John Foote. Congratulations to all his owners and lets hope this guy has a good break and continues to improve next preparation.
