Wow isn’t the big boy Scottish Dancer flying for young trainer Andrew Bobbin this preparation. The enigmatic galloper has hit a purple patch of form with his new trainer and is clearly thriving in his new environment at Bobbin’s Stawell facility.

Scottish Dancer’s latest win came at Caulfield on the weekend in the 1700m BM84 and was ridden by the hard working Jack Hill. In a fast run race Scottish Dancer found himself at the tail of the field and appeared to be struggling to keep up at the 600m when Hill gave him a couple of cracks over the rump to switch on.

The horse responded appropriately and when Hill angled him to the outside, he really extended down the straight to win nicely from last. The weekends win completed a hat trick for the 4YO son of Dream Ahead, with previous wins at Murray Bridge and Bendigo.

The RTD Team have always had a big opinion of this horse and a combination of minor injuries and slow maturity have meant that he hasn’t yet reached his potential. The change of environment from city stables with Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr to the open spaces, deep sand and laid back lifestyle of Andrew Bobbin is definitely paying dividends and for his patient owners they are now getting to see that potential realised.

Scottish Dancer will now have a freshen up for a couple of weeks and head to a 1600m race at Caulfield in 4 weeks and then look to take on the Heatherly Stakes at Flemington in 6 weeks time.
