On Thursday night we saw a filly with above average ability put away her maiden in fine fashion. Tahlequah went around in a 3YO fillies 1400m maiden at Pakenham. Going around at a super short quote of $1.35 there was a certain pressure on her to perform and win the race. From the wide barrier, gun jockey Damian Lane sent the 3YO filly forward and allowed her to stride up outside the leader.
While the pace slackened mid-race she looked to travel sweetly, and coming to the turn Damian stoked her up and she took a few strides to get into gear. When she did find top gear she quickly put the race away and cruised to a 1.75 length victory.
She is a filly with good ability and we will let the Price/Kent team assess her over the next few days, but it is likely she will be going straight to town next start or be aimed at some black type races in S.A or QLD. Whatever the team decide we know we have a very nice filly on our hands. Congrats to all the owners!
