Peace Treaty has dominated the $175k VOBIS Gold Carat at The Valley, controlling the race from the off and putting a gap on her rivals late. Having handed up the lead and had to overcome horrific traffic when scoring the start prior, the exciting filly was sent straight to the front for Saturday’s contest.
Jockey Damian Lane had his mount ($2.20) in a beautiful rhythm throughout the 1200-metre trip, sticking to the fence as the field bunched up and jostled behind. The three-year-old railed like a greyhound and despite Flying Mean ($5.50) making some late ground down the outside, the race was over halfway down the straight, leaving Lane very impressed.
“She left the barriers really sharply which helped, I was able to kick up and hold my spot, just control the race,” he said. “I thought she was travelling a little close to her top into the first corner, but she found a nice rhythm after that, nice enough that she was able to still give a good finish.
The Roll The Dice Racing prospect has now registered her third win from four career starts and could feature through the 2024 Autumn Carnival. And, while remaining typically level-headed, Lane is confident there are plenty more victories to come for the talented daughter of National Defense.
“She can certainly put a couple together at this time of year,” he said. “I’m not sure where she’ll get to in the autumn, but this won’t be her last win, let’s put it that way.”
