Its been a rollercoaster week for the RTD team following the success of Caulfield Guineas Day and Globe’s maiden Group 1 win. The focus since has been on whether or not we would pay the $200,000 late entry fee for the Gr.1 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. Between Mick Price and the RTD ownership team we made the decision that it’s not every day that you get the chance to run in a Cox Plate and we should roll the dice!   The decision was made last Thursday and we were frantically orgainising outfits, hospitality, ticketing and merchandise along with a thousand other things.

Unfortunately he pulled up a bit sore after his gallop on Saturday and we were in a race to see if Mick and the team could get him back on track. He was vetted by Racing Victoria on Monday and they wanted to see him again on Thursday morning. When the vets completed their inspection on Thursday morning we had no option but to scratch. While we are disappointed, the horses welfare comes first and he has been sent to the paddock for a well earned break, to win a WFA Gr.1 this spring has been an amazing achievement and we will bring him back in the autumn and winter to continue to target Gr.1 WFA races.

Thanks so much to all our supporters and well wishes during this tumultuous period, the big atlas will recover from his setback and it’s business as usual for RTD with plenty of runners in the next few weeks.
