There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at Sandown on Wednesday as Beau Mertens got his first winner since the passing of his father Peter on the weekend. Riding Anahita from a wide gate Beau got her into a terrific position and she was just too good for her rivals.

Speaking on Racing.com an emotional Mertens thanked the racing community for their support and he felt his dad on his shoulder as Anahita went through her gears in the favourable wet conditions to win comfortably by over a length.

Beau has been ridden 4 winners in the last 6 weeks so whenever you see him on one of ours make sure you have something on. We certainly love seeing him go around in our colours.
