Sometimes its hard work and attention to detail and work ethic and sometimes is just down to luck!
Luck was on our side as Lot 453 went through the ring on Monday around lunchtime. Convinced this filly was going to make too much money for our budget, Jeremy Rogers our bloodstock agent beat Rob to the lunch buffet provided by Inglis and proceeded to fill his plate pyramid style to ensure he got full value for money (despite it being complimentary).
While returning to his table he noticed Lot 453 leaving the sales ring and she was passed in for $40k. Jeremy shook Steve and Rob and said we need to go and check the vet report again, this filly just passed in and I loved her. The two scampered to the vendor, checking the vet report along the way, Steve even ringing our vet ensuring she was spot on to ensure a strong negotiation. Steve got the all clear and we were able to secure her for $40k.
We think her name should be At The Buffet or just Buffet! but you can help name her when you reserve your share as she aint lasting long.
This filly is by the prolific stallion Maurice who has 5 Gr.1 winners to his name including Derby winner Hitotsu. Out of a Snitzel mare Set Goals who was an $850K yearling herself, is a full sister to a stakes winner and placed in town as a 3YO before injury curtailed her career. This filly looks ready to go right now, you could almost throw a saddle over her and run her in the 2YO races as she is.
She’s got the pedigree, the conformation and the stunning looks to make it on the racetrack and like all the fillies we buy, there is residual there if she is to win in town or a stakes race. The breeder liked this filly so much they are retaining 25% interest so you will need to get in quick to have a share in At The Buffet!
