Ole Kirk – Sheer Lightning Colt

Our first purchase from the Inglis Classic Sale is this cracking colt by a sire that needs no introduction, Ole Kirk. Ole Kirk has made an amazing start to his stallion career, he is the Australian Champion First Season Sire in 2024/25. He has sired more first season 2YO stakes winners than Too Darn Hot, Justify, Extreme Choice and I Am Invincible to name a few. His service fee climbed from $50k in his first two years to $99k in 2025. It’s fair to say that this is the sire on fire in Australia right now.

Our colt, Lot 413 is so striking, he moves like a panther! He’s one of the nicest walking colts on the ground and we are rapt to get him for $70k! Out of an unraced Sebring mare who hasn’t had a winner on the ground yet and on face value it seems like she may not be the producer the breeder had hoped. But RTD have the inside word on her first couple of foals and the 3YO by Capitalist is called Captainthunderbolt and he has won a trial in Sydney in January by 4 lengths and the 2YO also by Capitalist trialled well in New Zealand in December, both offspring will be winning races soon. It’s this type of work that gets the right horses on type at the right prices as some buyers see the page and get nervous.

This colt will be trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman and they love the Ole Kirk’s too having success with Sonofkirk and they have purchased another three yearlings this year by Ole Kirk.
