Written Tycoon – Acing Shamrock Colt

Our first purchase for the sale was on a horse we know a lot about, Lot 20 a strong and imposing colt by Written Tycoon out of Acing Shamrock, making him a ¾ brother to one of our stable stars in Hedged. This colt is obviously very similar to Hedged and our bloodstock agent, Jeremy Rogers commented that this colt is bigger and stronger than Hedged at the same time.

We put that down to the quality of Lot 20 stallion in Written Tycoon, what can you say about him, he has produced an incredible 81 stakes winners including Hedged’s old man in Capitalist who won a Golden Slipper and Magic Millions 2YO race. The extra size and substance of this colt compared to Hedged is the difference in stallions between Written Tycoon and Capitalist. Let’s hope Written Tycoon can elevate this colt to be as good if not better than Hedged.

This colt was raised on the beautiful pastures of Yulong Farm in Nagambie and this colt has been given every chance to grow out and furnish and he has done just that. Jeremy saw the colt at Yulong before the sale and he has just got better and better with every inspection and he was beautifully presented at the sales and he was very popular with buyers. The bidding was spirited and we had a budget of around $300k and had to pay $330k to secure him and that was our last bid.

Hedged has been a terrific racehorse for RTD and owners amassing over $800k in prizemoney, racing at the highest level and recently becoming a stakes winner himself. He will be competing in the Gr.2 Australia Stakes on Friday night at Cranbourne. We think this colt can potentially be a stallion making prospect, he has the physique, the pedigree and the mating works as Hedged can attest.

This colt will be trained by Gavin Bedggood who we have entrusted with Hedged and trainers love getting hold of siblings that they have had success with. Most of the owners in Hedged have seen the similarities in both horses and have bought in again and there is only 2.5% remaining.
