What a weekend it has proven to be for the Roll the Dice Racing Team. All week we have been inspecting and purchasing yearlings and we went to the Gold Coast Turf Club yesterday hoping that Krone could overcome a horrible barrier 15 and jockey Ryan Moloney could perform a miracle.
What transpired in the $1m Fillies and Mares Classic over 1300m was nothing short of remarkable as jockey Ryan Maloney weaved a passage to win by a nose and continue the winning streak for RTD horses at Magic Millions day to 3 for 3. It was an emotional win yesterday as Krone has become a stable favourite for her finishing bursts and never say die attitude. She has been the bridesmaid many times in her career and been referred to in recent times as a wet tracker. All that was put to bed yesterday as she stuck her neck out, tried her heart out (au usual) and got the bob in at the right time yesterday to claim the biggest purse of her career.
Thanks to the masterful training performance from Tony Gollan to get the mare to peak yesterday even when others were questioning whether she was going well enough. She will have a short break and be aimed at the Brisbane winter carnival and head to the breeding barn after that. Special thanks also has to go to Jeremy Rogers who picked the mare out at the Magic Millions 2YO Ready to Run sales in 2018 for $120,000. She has now amassed just shy of the $1m in prizemoney and she will be a very valuable broodmare when the time comes to say goodbye to our special mare.
Congratulations to all of her owners, we have had to be patient with this mare, Darren Weir and Mick Price had great success with her previously but Tony Gollan has done an amazing job to get her back after an injury layoff with her and we are glad we kept her for another season to race on and target yesterday’s race. Its great when a plan comes together. RTD have built a great relationship with Tony Gollan and we are looking at sending more horses his way. Last night’s purchase, lot 923 a lovely filly by sire sensation So You Think was purchased for Tony to race in Queensland.
