What a fortnight its been for the owners of the aptly named Profiteer. Firstly a deal was finalised to secure the star colt last Saturday by Henry Field from Newgate Farm. Then it was the tension of dealing with a $1.70 favourite for the race for the whole week. Finally, last night it was only just sinking in what he did on the track to his rivals. Profiteer is a seriously fast horse and he showed that yesterday, in fact he was a little too fast for his own good and he left the racing world was in shock that he could extend his lead after going out so quickly during the $2m Inglis Millennium.

He has certainly got tongues wagging as to what his race program should be, can he beat the brilliant filly Enthaar and how much toll was taken out of the colt during yesterday’s run. Well…we can confirm with everyone that the star colt will stay in Sydney and head to the $3m Gr.1 Golden Slipper and miss the $1.5m Gr.1 Blue Diamond. He certainly knows he has had a run and trainer Mick Price will take the cautious approach with the valuable colt and leave him in Sydney and freshen him up for an assault on Australia’s richest 2YO race. As for can he beat Enthaar well we will have to wait a little longer to find out (March 30th) on Slipper Day and she seems now to have a mortgage on the Diamond in a fortnight. Let’s hope both horses make it in one piece to the Slipper as its going to be one hell of a race.

It’s been an amazing couple of weeks and its set to be an amazing 6 weeks as we count down to the slipper with Profiteer, congratulations to all his owners and let’s keep on enjoying the ride.
