It was a double celebration on Sunday for RTD mothers and owners of Elton’s Song on the new all synthetic all weather track recently installed at Ballarat Turf Club. In a maiden that looked like a nice race with some early scratchings, Elton jumped away a little slowly and jockey Jarrod Fry let him find his feet while the speed up front was pretty hot. Coming to the 600m Jarrod angled Elton to the outside where he tracked into the race beautifully and he finished with a great finishing burst to put the race away with 100m to run.
While it was a nice win trainer Mitch Freedman thought the horse had improved a lot from his Warracknabeal and still resisted the temptation to put blinkers on the horse. We feel that the horse is really switched on at the moment and we will look for another synthetic race over 1600m in the next fortnight.
