It was the perfect finish for 2023 for Roll the Dice Racing and Mitch Freedman when Sacramental, a 3YO colt by Sacred Falls broke his maiden at his first start at Echuca today. The colt was selected by by Chris Rutten and Jeremy Rogers at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sales in 2022 for $65,000 and has always shown ability.

Trainer, Mitch Freedman has had to be patient with the colt due to niggling feet issues and he now has him right to race and he franked that ability with an impressive win this afternoon despite doing a lot wrong in the run.

Instructions from Mitch to jockey, Jarrod Fry were to be midfield and finishing off and the race didn’t really pan out that way as he was keen from the start and really wanted to be on the pace. Settling int he box seat Jarrod produced the horse at the right time and he really towed him into the race and he rounding the turn he was in front very quickly. With no horses to follow he wandered around like a drunken sailor but still got the job done comfortably to win by over a length.

Mitch will now get the horse home and think about his next assignment but one thing is for sure we have a nice colt on our hands and if we can iron out the manners then he will make a really nice late 3YO in autumn and winter.
