Roll the Dice Racing and John Foote are heading back to Europe to try and again at finding our Derby – Cups horse at the famous Tattersall’s and Arqana Yearling Sales at Newmarket, UK and Deauville, France.

RTD are always looking for ways to find the best quality horses at the lowest price for their owners. Two years ago we ventured to both Tattersalls and Arqana and secured a lovely Camelot filly at a steal of a price, only to find out she had a blood disease in quarantine and the sale subsequently fell through. This year we are saddling up again and although restrictions are in place John has been scouring the catalogues and is using his contacts on the ground in the UK to find the next Signoff, Furrion or Fifty Stars. Foote has been travelling to the UK for nearly 15 years, sourcing UK bred horses for a very select group of owners. Such is the relationship between RTD, we are now engaging John Foote to bring a yearling home for RTD.

RTD spoke with Foote this week, and his opinion is that the tried horse international market is so over inflated. It’s for this reason Foote has honed his eye at the yearling market, where he has selected 3 lovely horses in the past 5 years. Signoff for $100k, who finished 4th in a Melbourne Cup, and barring injury could have won the great race for Weir before Prince of Penzance in 2016. Foote again thrust himself into spotlight recently by selecting the exciting 3YO’s Fifty Stars, $150k and Furrion, $100k. “They are just superior staying horses compared to our Australian-bred ones, and there is value in this sale when you choose the right horses.” Foote says.

With the Arqana sale in September and the Tattersall’s sales coming up in October, RTD are taking expressions of interest from our current owners and newsletter subscribers. To register your interest please  call Rob on 0448 462 824 or email rob@rollthedice.com.au
