On Wednesday a Pivotal colt by a Galileo mare went through the ring at the famous Tattersall’s in Newmarket UK. After two weeks of scouring the catalogues and conducting inspections, we found the one we wanted and crossed our fingers our budget was big enough to secure him.

Armed with a 70,000 guineas budget, we were floored to see him knocked down to Lillingston Bloodstock, acting on behalf of RTD’s own John Foote Bloodstock, for 35,000 guineas – that is half of our budget! When speaking with John this morning, we were all surprised and elated to get a horse of this pedigree, constitution, and quality for that price considering how strong the sale has been to date.

The colt will enter quarantine early next week and should be transported to Melbourne in around 20 days. Steve from RTD spoke with legendary trainer, Peter Moody, this afternoon about training the horse, and Peter was flattered and honoured to be the chosen trainer of a horse picked by John Foote. Both Queenslanders, Peter and John go way back, and Pete’s comments were, “I’ll take any horse that Footey has been associated with.” RTD are obviously rapt to be starting an association with Moody and we can’t wait to get the horse home for Moods to take a look at him in the flesh.

Interest in this colt has already been overwhelming, and he is already completely reserved. John and the European bloodstock team will now head to Arqana Yearling Sales in Deauville, France next week to look to add an international filly to the RTD stable. Again register your interest with Rob on 0448 462 824.
